Podcast II (due 04/03/2026)

Introduction

Please do not use AI for this assignment.

After listening to and discussing the podcast episode from Data Viz Today by Alli Torban with Morgan Depenbusch titled “Leaders don’t need more data, they need interpretation”, find one other podcast from the catalog (the episode names and numbers are clickable). Though many seem relevant (e.g., episode 56: legends or episode 86: creativity), if you are unable to find a sufficiently interesting episode, you are free to search elsewhere (e.g., Storytelling with Data) for relevant “content”. The episode, if not the series, should generally address aspects of data visualization as you currently understand it.

As you listen, make notes on the following themes

  • what surprised you, positively or negatively (e.g., with respect to your own goals or interests),
  • something technical that you should remember,
  • something non-technical that you should remember,
  • something that you are more curious about, and
  • your main take-away message of the episode.

With your response please list the series title, host(s), guest(s), and episode title (preferably with a link).

  • Graduate students should address all 5 themes above.
  • Undergraduate students can choose any 3 of the 5.

Roughly two paragraphs total (about 2 sentences per theme) should suffice, anything less is probably too brief, but longer responses are welcome. If you tried one or more episodies and failed to finish, briefly share what those were and why.
