Instructions

Use this template for your answers. Remove the instructions before you submit.

  • Verify the author and date.
  • Due as a pdf to D2L by April 18, 2025, but feel free to submit at any time prior. You should probably generate your answers in this document as a webpage (html), but print the file to a pdf from your browser before you submit.
  • Use the file name last_first_review.pdf, with your last and first names in those places.

Task

This is a variation on the “Five Questions” assignment discussed earlier in class.

Class time is active and sometimes, at key moments, fast-paced. Briefly scan my annotated Class Notes1.

Nearly everything we have done together in class should be described on these pages. This should give you a collection of reproducible examples. Choose one page to review more carefully (though I can’t enforce this, please don’t all choose the first one!). Choose a page that seems important, useful, or confusing.

  1. Compare our notes - mine to yours, yours to mine. Are you missing something? Did you try something in class that my notes do not reflect? Please share any comments.
  2. Were you able to fully execute any relevant code by opening the .Rproj file first? Does the code make sense, seem familiar, seem helpful? If you have questions about something please briefly describe the idea and your concern. Please document any challenges.
  3. Based on your current experience, is there something you think is either incomplete, confusing, missing, or wrong? If you are not able to identify a problem, ask a relevant question related to the topic.
  4. As you pursue data visualization opportunities, describe three (or so) concepts or “rules” that should guide your work. Ideally you have three (or more) new ideas from class, but this could include your own extracurricular discoveries.

Reminders

You can prepare answers however you like. In the end, submit a properly-named pdf file to D2L.

Footnotes

  1. Sorry, the navigation between these pages may not be smooth. You will most likely have to use the browser’s back button to go to the main listing. These are the same pages there were previously contained in the .zip files.↩︎
